Dr Rangan Chatterjee, MBChB, BSc (Hons), MRCGP, MRCP
Dr Rangan Chatterjee hosted a unique 3 programme series on BBC1 in 2015. This series looked at how an NHS GP could immerse himself with three families to guide them back to health using the principles and practices of functional medicine.
In this lecture, we will hear from James Maskell, the Founder of the Functional Forum, as he shares real cases from the front lines of Functional Medicine in the USA. Expect a mixture of big ideas and practical tools to help you create a far more efficient practice model. He will illuminate a number of ways to streamline your practice, deliver care and remain viable.
Dr Pratima Singh MBBS, MRCPsych MBA
Dr Singh will present “The functional medicine approach for a NHS mental health setting: Aspirations and Challenges”. Dr Singh is a community and adult psychiatrist working in Lewisham, London. She is based in a team at the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust that works closely with local GPs to plan care for patients presenting with mental illnesses requiring specialist input. Having had the advantage of several strategic leadership opportunities in her residency, she believes that a holistic and functional medicine approach presents an opportunity to address the huge burden of mental health morbidity in the NHS. She is a strong advocate of intensive lifestyle interventions to address chronic mental health conditions and judicious use of psychotropic medication. She is currently undergoing training to develop competencies in the model of Functional medicine.
